The windshield wipers on my 93 LT1 have always skipped a bit but things are getting worse, even after putting on a new set of blades from chevy. Recently they started hitting each other every now and then as they came to rest. Even worse after turning off the wipers in a rush hour traffic jam the other day, one caught on the other as they parked causing one to fold over backwards and ding the hood. The wiper arms do not appear loose and I've pulled the wiper arms - the socket and attachment **** are not damaged. Does anyone have any repair or other suggestions before I pull the plastic vent grill (which is glued in place) and check the actuator arm/gear and motor?
First off, welcome to the fourm and the addiction. On to the wipers - You can do a search for wipers. There is a thread or tech tip about adjusting them. Involves going in from the cowl. I've haven't done that. When mine started to collide, I just bought a 18 inch wiper for the PS! May be a temp fix, but has worked for about six months of daily driving.
sorry dude you are gonna have to pull the plastic on the cowl and adjust them . It's not hard to do ......the arms have adjustments on them that have bolts to loosen and then you move them around 'till you are happy. Also just because the blades are GM doesn't mean they are fresh....... the place you got them may not sell a bunch of them so they may have had them a while......... I like to buy the OEM stuff that NAPA has ....... they are all made by companies like Trico or someother ....... GM puts their name on them ......... That could be the reason for the chatter with the new blades. :seeya
Easy. GM recognized this was a problem after making vettes for 11 years and mid '95 they changed the wiper arms and blades. You can get a set of new ones from 18carfan for $25 a piece. They clip on in 30 seconds. 18carfan is Jeff Kopp, a GM parts manager at Superior Chevrolet in Overland Ks, and he sells parts just above cost to forum members.

And.....the most knowledgeable Vette parts and all around easiest guy to deal with over the phone that you've ever met!!! He makes spending money for your car parts fun....well at least pleasant.
The wiper blades on my 1986 constantly hit when they were turned off. I spent hours adjusting the arms. No help. It was so bad that one time the blade tip bent and scored the windshield. That was in 1990. I installed one 19" blade on the drivers side and the problem was fixed. I ultimately switched to 19" on both sides. I never noticed the difference. :chevy
I was thinking the same thing, an inch or two with smaller blades seems like enough. I wound up removing the passanger side as a temporary fix, but the drivers side was still scratching the windshield frame.
I started to accomplish the adjustment as described in the Corevtte Magazine link, but my 3/8" ratchet, extension, and socket were to big. I will get a 1/4" extension complete the fix sometime this week.
As was noted earlier, 1995 & 96 arms will cure this problem for $25 each. They have a different bend to them and are the Generals answer to this problem.
