I recently replaced the old stock mufflers on my '86 convertable with Flowmasters. Though quieter than expected, they still drone enough to annoy. Anyone got any suggestions for a quiet but efficient muffler? Walker makes a "Quiet Flow" model. Dynamax makes the Super Turbo. Both claim to be quieter than Flowmasters. Are they??? I don't want to choke off my exhaust, but I'd like to be able to hold a conversation in the car. I've got a '32 Coupe with glasspacks that's quieter in the cab than the Vette.
I had Dynomax (made by Walker) Super Turbos on my '90 and they droned pretty bad, so they may not solve your problem. Had that bad highway resonance.
I have a Walker "Quiet Flow" muffler on my S-10, it's basically a stock replacement. I assume it's the similar for Vette's? Also, be sure not to confuse Walker "Quiet Flow" with their "Ultra Flow". The "Ultra Flow" is a straight through glass packed muffler, may be worse than what you have now.
I found a '91 y-pipe and mufflers at a corvette salvage yard for mine. The '91 uses larger mufflers to reduce back pressure without increasing the noise level. It is interchangebale for years '86 through '91.
