Well my coolant temps run at like 230 deg on the highway, and is around 190 in stop and go traffic. My oil temps are at 245-250 at highway speeds, and around town are around 210-220. highway running at 80mph
I had a jeep cherokee before and the oil pump was bad, so it ran hot on the highway. I was wondering if this was the problem, and if it is how much is an oil pump, and can someone give me a link to show how to change it. I am going to have my car apart in the next week or so, so I will do it then.
Coolant temps should tend to be cooler on the highway than in stop and go, oil would be the opposite because on a long trip it would have time to get pretty darn hot.
C4's were made to run hot, many don't like that. You can install a 160 thermostat and have your fans reprogrammed to keep your coolant temps down which will in turn keep your oil temps down.
Hmm, just looked at your sig a little closer, don't mind me, I'm an idiot.
For the most part my oil temps stay around 190 in daily driving. The longer I run the car they do creep up, and if it's already warm on quick burst up through third gear will heat it up real fast. Oil temps are a function of engine speed and time running. I don't think they're anything to be worried about.
I am simply guessing that it is bad because of my previous experience with my jeep. at idle after it's warmed up it sits at the first hash mark, then driving it sits at the third one. Is this normal?
Hey Bad....we talked about this and something is goofy with your vette...your oil temps are ok but those COOLANT TEMPS are azz backwards...I've never seen a car run hotter coolant temps on the highway at speed than in stop and go traffic...somethin' ain't right buddy...I hope somebody here can figure this one out cause it's... ..it's like the wires to your temp gauge are crossed so it shows the correct temp but in the wrong order..goes up when it should go down and down when it should go up... ..good luck
When I install my supercharger I may pull my radiator also and clean it. I'm also going to flush the system to see if that will help. Although I did just have an electric water pump installed, so I think it was flushed with that install.
The only reason I mention the oil pump is because that was the problem with my jeep. My oil pump was bad, so it made my coolant temps go up.
Also my fans are wired so they come on when my car is started(the guy that wired my electric water pump messed it up). Would this cause the temps to rise for some reason?
See if you have something (small, furry animal or something) blocking your rad. With a 160 stat and the fans on all the time, you should not get anywhere near the temps you are talking about. Mine runs about 190 to 195 and oil is 170 to 180.

Re: Oil pump problem? (BAdAzZV8)
I was just wondering if the fans being on at high speeds would make it run hotter, anyone know?
Yes, I think they will. Also reduce the life of the fan motor(s). Above some speed the fans will become a restriction to air flow and can reduce cooling.
Yeah they are supposed to turn off somewhere around there, but they stay on when my car is running b/c of the way they are wired. I have to figure out how they are wired so I can undo how they are wired to stay on.
