1992 replacement optispark
#42
Sorry its been a while since my last post. Here's the update:
Mechanic installed the AIP optispark and now he's getting signal coming out of it.
He's been chasing down leaks on front of engine. Replaced water pump seal, cam seal and water pump. Thought maybe the crank seal was bad, but looks like it was just stuff dripping down from above seals.
He started putting engine back together. I asked his to replace the fuel filter while he's got it on the lift. Also while on lift, I asked him to check around for anything that might require attention.
Hope to have it back next week.

Well, I got my car back after almost 2 months at mechanics. Car running good so far with AIP opti. Therefore, I would recommend it.
Now, off the get it ready for smog test.
Thanks all for your insights and comments.

Crazy!
Its armed robbery what they charge for a fancy cap and rotor. Replaced the original with one from advance. $230. Nothing special. No vents. I used silicone to create a horseshoe seal over the top half. So far so good.
PS DO NOT USE DIELECTRIC GREASE on the contract points. Even a very small amount caused firing issues. Had to pull it ALL back apart and clean it off. Ugh!
