Default Dumb LT4 Hot Cam Question

Or just a cam replacement question in general...

When doing a cam replacement, given that the LT4 Hotcam Kit comes with new rockers, should I replace the lifters too? Or is that really necessary? If it is recommended, any thoughts on whose?

I wouldn't think so. However, it is recommended to replace the springs with the LT4 springs.

Use the same old roller lifters, but you must change the springs.

Check the lifters carefully... my car is in the shop as week speak for a Hot cam and two of the lifters were bad, they were starting to wear the cam lobes they road on. Not bad.. but bad enough that is was quite visable.

Oh definitely. They are part of the kit actually.

Thanks for the info!

As much work as it is to install the Hot Cam kit why not just put in a new set of lifters? I know you can get away with reusing the previous roller lifters but the peace of mind you get with new lifters is worth the extra cost involved. The problem is lifters have moving pieces inside & you can't see the wear. I bought a brand new set in GM packages on Ebay for under $150 just my two cents. :)

Really no reason I couldn't. Fact is the motor is out of the car so access is no problem! :) I was just wondering if I needed to or not, the lifters are fairly new, but it might not hurt to replace them. I just wasn't sure if it was a necessity to do so or not....
