HI folks, I purchased my 1985 C4 last fall. I have had my share of problems but the big one is brakes locking. I have replaced both front brake lines and the drivers front caliper and hub bearing as it was locking up. The right side was warm but not as bad. I drove the car a month or so and got a brake light. Drove again yesterday and after about 3 miles got a brake light and upon returning to the garage both front wheels were very hot. I am not sure where to turn next. Usually brake locking issues are calipers and hose problems but I am thinking master cylinder. I don't think the '85 had abs. I have never ran into a master cylinder causing brake locking problems but always a first for me. Any suggestions.
A bit of history.. The car has 110000 on it but hadn't been used much recently. There had a been a lot of maintenance done on the car but I am suspicious concerning the quality. It had recently had a brake job as pads look brand new.
Check brake pedal be sure it fully releasing. Hush panel, brake switch misadjusted, booster leaking vacuum hissing noise from dash, master cylinder not fully returning. When front brakes a dragging if you open bleeder does fluid squirt out with brake pedal released. Since brakes are getting hot enough to turn warning light on; I would flush brake fluid DOT3 or 4 DO NOT USE DOT5.
