Wix 51069
Its time for a tune up and oil change for my 86. Its all stock L98.
I bought a WIX oil filter because I have been hearing how good the quality was. The part number the comes up for the car is 51069.
After reading more about it, I see that it does not have a bypass valve, or an anti-drain back valve. Other oil filters listed for the car have these features, and now I'm second guessing my purchase.
I'm I just over think things?
Any info would be helpful.
Thanks,
Ryan
(This is not always true for engines with oil filter mounted base up but I believe it is true for this application.)
Also the SBC engines have internal bypass valve built into the block, so the bypass valve is not needed in the filter, either.
The 51036 is correct for your application and WIX is a good quality oil filter for standard service intervals.
