1985 Smog Pump
Hi Folks
I'm new here and I'm hoping you may be able to help me out. I am looking for a smog pump for a 1985 corvette. I have tried everywhere on the internet without any success. It is a discontinued part and I can't find a rebuilt either. Any help would be appreciated.

My want to post this in the WTB/For sale forum. Here's one I found on ebay. Not sure if it is what you are looking for. HTH.

Hey,
Have you had any success finding a smog pump? I also have an 85 corvette and I'm in need of a smog pump. The bearing is going in my pump. It seems like it has been discontinued everywhere.

Sadly it seems as if the Cardone part is either temporarily unavailable or has been discontinued. Every parts source that I have looked at says this. I've checked Napa, Advance Auto Parts, Oriley Auto Parts, Autozone, Ecklers Corvette, Zip Corvette, Corvette America, Corvette Central, Rock Auto, and others online. I can't find the pump available anywhere. I've also searched through NOS parts websites as well as on ebay and have not been able to find anything used or NOS. The original GM part number is 7846432.

trouble with the 85 smog pump - it's a one year only part. that's most likely why cardone units are hard to find. NOS, original part number assemblies would be damn near impossible to find. GM part number 7846432 may be a service replacement number, but either way, that's also been discontinued.
anyone looking on fleabay for an 85 unit - be careful. I've seen many folks trying to pass off non-85 assemblies for 85 model year pumps. seems the part number on the rear casting plate was used on various assemblies. the rear plate part number is not the assembly number.

I asked about a smog pump for my 84 yesterday at my local NAPA, they confirmed none available in their nationwide network. They said they could send mine out to be rebuilt. Just an idea....

you could also try iser bfenty here on cf. he had one with the guts ripped out of it but it would bolt on and look factory. tubes and all. just wouldn’t actually pump air.
