what is the difference of the 89 firebird tpi engine compared to a 91 vette i know the aluminum heads are not of the firebird 5.7 but other than that what are the difference, i can get a complete engine and 4l60e trans for 300 bucks with all of the tuned port injection stuff

The center plenum is different on the Firebird to clear the lower hood line. IIRC the Firebird was rated 5-10 HP lower than the Camaro with the same engine because the Firebird's plenum is more restrictive.
Got a reference on this?
Camaro/Firebird had different intake plumbing to the filter. I never heard of them having a different manifold nor noticed a difference after owning both.
Also never remember seeing a published hp difference between comparably equipped cars.
I don't remember where I read this. Maybe they made it up. But I didn't. I distinctly recall reading this somewhere. Around the year 2000 I helped a guy do a 87 Firebird TPI into a 58 Bel Air wagon. I did the swap, engineering, fuel system, wiring, etc. I remember that at a later date I read that the Firebird engine wasn't as strong as the Camaro engine, it was rated less, and that the plenum / hood line was the reason. I remember thinking "too bad we used a Firebird. We didn't know this at the time". The guy ended up selling the car only a few months after I finished it for him.
I know the hood lines and bumper heights were different. This did dictate a difference in air intakes. The TPI Camaros set over and in front of the radiator support , two fileters that fed 1 tube with a direct shot to the throttle body. The Trans Am TPIs had a elbow and the filter set to the side by the finder. Originally this was a mess up box type junction that later was replaced by en elbow.
I would say there were no differences in the cast manifold or runners. I can't "prove" this, but your post was the first I ever heard of anything being different about the manifolds.
I can also confirm the external EGR and slightly different ECM mapping due to aluminum heads when comparing to the corvette.
