Default Max stroke for a blown LT1

Ok, the old girl is nearing the milage I had pre-determined as rebuild time.. So instead of getting a new ZO6 I'm going to re-hab my love... and supercharge it!! :reddevil

Now on with the quesiton.. I want to stroke the LT1 to 401 cid and also add an ATI ProChrager/Intercooler @ 6-8 PSI.. What things should i be considering to help the longetivity of this setup..

I'm going to use the factory block, have it magna fluxed, line bored, cylinder border .30 over (I think) and finished honed..

I'll be using a forged crank, Eagle H-Bean Rods , ARP studs and Forged pistons.. But what is the idea compression ratio for the blower pistons? and what type of rings should I use?? Is there anything i'm not thinking about or any advice you would like to add?!?!

All comments welcome!

Blown 383ci is more than enough for most. You can get 600+rwhp with about 12-14psi of boost.

As for piston. You can use SRP -24cc that would you about 9:1 c/r. I used JE-28cc Heavy Duty Blower piston with LT1 heads I got around 9:1 c/r
I also use JE rings as well. Good luck

With aluminum heads 9/1cr is ideal for a street engine that is the same as 8/1 on cast iron heads. If you only run 8lbs and you are intercooled you can use higher c/r. Rings is a no brainer use a moly coated ring on a sc engine. I used speed-pro moly coated rings. When you have your engine rebuilt install steel main caps instead of the stock cast ones on it now. Some will say that you don't need that and maybe not depends on how much boost you end up with but better safe than sorry. With a N/A engine you can get away with cast crank and main caps but a blower motor makes a lot more torque than a N/A engine. If you run more than 8lbs. use a intercooler or the heat will cause detonation. Much has been made of vettes overheating with intercoolers but the intercooler just makes a poorly designed cooling system worse. I have addressed these issues and I have no cooling problems. I even posted about how to cure on this forum but others suggested removing the intercooler so rather than argue wiith them I just didn't post anymore about it but I can take comfort in knowing that on a 90 degree day my intercooled car will run at 180 Degrees. What way you go depends on how much power you want to make. Good luck with whatever you decide on. Bart
