Since I am physically unable to change the left side motor mount on my 84 which is broken. What should I expect to pay at the local repair shop. Must the exhaust manifold be removed?

I can't help you since I've 'NEVER' owned an early C4 but I believe yours was purchased 12 or so years ago I thought a BUMP might get you some attention.
Hard to believe all of the '84 & '85 owners just passed the thread by!
I'm sorta surprised someone local hasn't 'volunteered' -
I don't recall it being particularly difficult to remove the mount. I believe you pull the middle bolt out, jack up the motor a little and then you can get to the brackets from underneath. Should only be an hour or two for labor?
Sometimes when pulling the motor on my 84, I will leave the large through bolt in place and remove the 3x3/8 bolts (9/16 head) from underneath and lift the motor off the mount with the mount still attached to the car. My headers are always off though. You should probably be able to do this with the exhaust on. Using an offset 9/16 box end wrench will help.
