Default 1985 EGR problem question

I've replaced (with all new parts) my EGR valve for a standard transmission, the EGR temp sensor and the EGR solenoid switch because of code # 32. I think that's all there is to that system. The car has been parked all winter. As soon as I start the COLD engine, that same CHECK ENGINE light will sometimes immediately appear. If I shut the engine off and restart it, the CHECK ENGINE light will go away. I checked the code and it always indicates code #32 EGR malfunction. This same problem existed before I replaced all the parts. I do not have a catalytic convertor. Am I missing something? The car runs perfectly otherwise. Any advice of what I should look at?

Do you mean the end of the senor switch that is screwed into the base of the EGR valve? If so that would mean removing the plenum and runners to get at it again. Wow, what a pain that would be just to turn the sensor 1/8th turn. I was hoping there was some other sensor or something to check. Not sure I really want to remove all that stuff just to turn that sensor because of the intermittent check engine light. Any other idea's?

OK. I see it and understand it now. If it is indeed grounded, I think I'll just leave it alone. It's not worth the time and trouble to remove everything just to turn that pin and re-glue it in a different position. It's only an intermittent problem and doesn't cause any real problem as far as I can see. Being it is a brand new part, it seems to me that it should have been correct from the manufacturer in the first place. A pre-set switch shouldn't have to be re-corrected in my opinion. Funny thing is with this situation, the original 34 year old parts I replaced for the same CHECK ENGINE light code #32 were causing this same problem. That's why I was hoping there was something else in the system I missed replacing. Thanks.
