Default clutch slipping in my ruby ragtop

hi folks, about 3 moths ago ihad a clutch kit installed. All was fine until this evening when i was out for a ride, all of a sudden the clutch slipped enough to burn then re engaged. it happened twice
and for no reason. no speed shifting, just cruisin around 40 if that in 4th gear. im guessing pressure plate unless there's an adjustment at the slave cylinder. just lookin for another opinion, come monday i'll be at the shop that did the job

Check the slave cylinder for fluid and air. It is behind the computer (Black Box) Near battery. Remove the black box and it is there. Fluid should be replaced at the age of your car and bled.

Please explain your situation a little better. Are you saying that you engaged the clutch, shifted gears then when you released the clutch it didn't engage the gear immediately?
If that's accurate then it sounds to me like the release of the slave cylinder or the pressure plate at times is being prevented for some reason. That's where I'd start if it was mine.
On bleeding the slave, I got a tip from a former GM mechanic on bleeding a slave which I did on my 86 and worked. Car off, cap off the master cylinder, pump the clutch pedal vigorously about 10 times quickly. On the last pump hold the pedal for about 5 minutes all the way to the floor. At the end of the time, slip your foot off the clutch pedal and let it pop up on it's own. If there is air in the line and you have a bit of luck, (the following helps to have someone else help) see if any bubbles appear in the master cylinder. You might have to do it once but it's worked getting air out of the line that bleeding failed to get out.

Hope that helps.

Do you have an oil leak? The best clutch in the world will burn up if it is wet..

Default slipping clutch

thanks to all that replied, hopefully its the slave cylinder . to answer one of the questions it seemed to happen when i downshifted, the clutch didn't engage until i clutched and upshifted. thats no big deal to replace its only a couple of months old (new supposedly not a re-man.)

There's a bunch of junk clutches out there.. Make sure they didn't stick you with an autozone unit.

LUK is a good brand, and worth installing once so you can use it for years.

The "lifetime" warranty on some of them isn't reflective of the quality of the part.. It is reflective of how long you'll be screwing with it because it doesn't work right.

If the area down there looks dry take a pic so they cant go blaming it on a leak somewhere.
