Default Warranty work is awesome...

Yeah, so the waterpump was the culprit (like I knew) of my coolant leak. And that took out the optispark. Both covered under warranty. ALSO, the slight clunk i had been hearing when blipping the throttle ended up being a bad rear drive shaft u-joint. So, over $1400 worth of work being done for $50 :D

a/c compressor and condenser, rear-end spindles, both rear hubs, rack & pinion and power steering pump, master cylinder and booster, starter. I think that's it.

I wanted to do my water pump, fuel pump and injectors but I ran out of time and mileage :(

Yep, when I bought it at the auction they offered me the 2 year/24,000 mile warranty for $700. It was a pretty decent warranty too (it was through Wynns), the only thing they didn't cover was my u-joints. Hmmm, so I guess the work wasn't completly free but still saved me a ton of money. :yesnod:

GMPP rocks! I'm getting over $2000 worth of work done on my truck and it is costing me $0 for it. And the best part is that my local mechanic is doing the work! I trust him waaaaaaay more than the local Chevy dealer who doesn't even know my name.

So, over $1400 worth of work being done for $50 :D

Plus what you paid for the warranty package itself.

Gee, I took my LT4 to Spitzer in Amherst, Ohio for what I thought would be warranty work, a 10 degree descrepancy between the oil temp & coolant temp. They knew what my complaint was going in! They stated that all the components check within tolerance, nothing could be done & that would be $65 please!

They offered to replace my drivers seat cover under warranty, but advised me against it because they can never get the replacement covers on as good as the factory.

After several visits, they finally tell me it is "normal" for a garden hose to force water throught the glass seals.

Took my car for a 20+ mile test run to check for road noise complaint (which pointed out to them could be heard in the parking lot).

Fortunately I haven't had major problems in 29K miles!

You guys are really lucky if you have dealerships with mechanics who actually do quality work.

My extended warranty runs out next spring.

Isn't it normal to have 10 degree discrep between oil and water temps? I've had that since I owned the car (7+ years)

at least 10 degrees difference is normal. Oil is almost always hotter than coolant when at normal operating temperature. The difference that I've heard some people question is the analog coolant vs the digital coolant... but those are different because one termisistor is on the head, and one is on the waterpump.

Yes it is...

Between the bumper-bumper and the extended, I've probably had about $7K worth of work done already... :D

2 more years or 65K miles left on my warranty...

The 10 degree descrepancy I am referring to is after the car has been in the garage ( pretty constant temperature) overnight or longer and BEFORE starting the engine. For example the oil temp might read 65 and the coolant 75. After being in a constant temperature garage with the engine off they should be the same! I am NOT talking about when the car engine is running.

$7,000 worth of warranty work on a 96? :mad If that was mine and it was my daily driver I would have got rid of it long ago. Heck, if it wasn't the daily driver I'd have got rid of it. What ever happened to the factory building quality cars? I guess I'll stick to my '89, its cheap, I can fix it myself when it breaks and hot rod it on the street when I want to have a little fun.

Actually I traded my 1989 L98 in on my 96 LT4 when the warranty ran out! They sold my 89 the same afternoon I traded it in. The salesman called me the next day to ask me if I had any trouble starting it. I confirmed to him that indeed I had just started to have trouble. Wonder what that would have cost me to fix??? My estimate is that I had easily over $5000 of warranty work done on my 89 with no end in sight! Both are awsome cars, but again in my view GM just doesn't get it with quality!!
