Default Cracked LT1 manifolds (exhaust)

Check under the heat shields. It seems they all crack just like this. Notice the carbon staining on the inside of the heat shield. These were ticking for a while.

May help (?): https://itstillruns.com/weld-cracked...d-5642735.html

Had a manifold welded successfully on one of my fish boats. I know, it wasn't a vette, but it was done by a
knowledgable welder..Just had to bring the cast iron up to temp.

Perfect time to replace them with headers and a nice full exhaust system. Lighter, better looking , sounding and most of all more HP..!!

Welding cast iron is a real crap shoot. I have had good luck grinding away the crack and using a gas torch and brazing the affected area. But the long term solution is probably going to be a new manifold(s)

I've welded plenty of cast turbo manifolds, but I won't bother fixing these.

I just wanted to show members to check your manifolds when out of the car
