Just picked up a 1984 C4 that has been sitting for a couple years. Put a battery in yesterday and it turned over when I turned the key and wiggled the battery cables. Today, when I turn the key to start, I hear a solenoid click and the security light on the annunciation panel comes on. Light is Not flashing and not on all the time, Only comes on when the key is turned to START. Please help

 

Welcome to the Forum, Tall Guy! "84's are fun, because they are a one year model, with their own special characteristics! First thing I see: You shouldn't have to "wiggle the battery cables" That tells me something's loose, so the car will go berzerk! Make sure those connections are clean and tight, and in the process of doing that, you will have reset the security system, so the car should start. Tell us more about your car! We like pictures, too!

 

thank you sir! I’ll go through and clean everything up. I knew that year didn’t have VATS so I was pretty upset to be having security issues.

Norway, the cluster above my radio is quite different than the photos in the link you referenced. Is your '84 like those photos? Here's what my '84 looks like:

 

Did you try to unlock the drivers door with the key? That's how you turn off security system.
