I need to replace the right rear caliper on my 93 coupe. I am surprised to find that there none are available at my local parts store. AutoZone, Orielly's, and NAPA can't get it, or have it back ordered and don't know when it will be available. It would be to my advantage to buy one locally so I can return the core, as the core charge is as much as the part. I may have to eat the cost and just buy from rockauto, or something. This was unexpected. I guess my vett (and me) are getting old. LOL
Any suggestions for a source for this part? I have not even got into the left side yet. Not sure if I'll need one for it. I can't get the right side spread enough to fit new pads in it. I think its cockeyed.
Have you thought about getting a rebuild kit for your caliper(s). If the piston is not returning, that could explain not being able to push the piston back into the caliper bore. Besides RockAuto, have you tried Amazon
i have a pair of rear calipers that were reman'd by lone star caliper that i bought a few years ago, painted them black and mounted them onto the rotors. never been out of the garage. i think the pads are new, too.
$100.00 shipped includes the calipers, pads, and brackets.
"Grease caps"??? Do you mean "bleed screws"?? Bleed screws are used to get brake fluid to pass thru the calipers so that the pistons in the caliper can push the pads against the rotors during braking.
The '93 uses the rear calipers for the parking brake. A cable from the parking brake handle pulls a lever which pushes the pads against the rotors. Did you disconnect the cable end from the calipers before you tried to remove the caliper?

Its the piece that bolts to the caliper. It holds the cable. I don't know how to get it out of the bracket, so I simply removed the bracket. (2 bolts) Is there an easier way?
Grease cap, or dust cap is in the center that goes over the large nut, it has a locker w a cotter pin, access to the wheel bearing. The cap that fits over it is missing on mine on both sides. 2 1/2- 3" in diameter.
