help:idle affected by EGR?
It idles fine (although high at 800-900 rpm)then skips a beat then idles fine then skips a beat in 1 minute intervals or so. this problem has just started up when I went back to school. It sat for most of the summer, but when driven it was fine. When I started to drive it to school it developed this problem.
I have been told that it might be a bad EGR valve. Is this possible? and do you have to take off the plenum to get to it? (it states that you do in the manual, but just wondering if there is an easier way. :D )
thanks for any advise on this.
ALso tried to reset the idle per the technique in the tech tips section, but couldn't seem to bring the idle down at all with the screw. The cable never relaxed the metal piece to the screw.)
There is an EGR diagnostic test on my site.
To check for an ignition problem with that miss, clip a timing light onto each wire in turn and see if the miss coincides with a missed flash.
