Hi, I am having some difficulty tracking down some part numbers (genuine and aftermarket) for the IAC for my 1989 C4 Corvette 5.7L TPI L98.
Can anyone help me with these, please?
Hi, I am having some difficulty tracking down some part numbers (genuine and aftermarket) for the IAC for my 1989 C4 Corvette 5.7L TPI L98.
Can anyone help me with these, please?
1. Have you talked to your GM dealer?
2. What exactly is the problem that is needing a replacement?
Thank-you for 'recommending' Rockauto.
I notice that the same IAC valve has two different electrical connections. Four 'tube' type ports and/or four 'blade' type connectors. Which one should I get for my 1989 C4 with the L98 TPI engine?
(I have yet to locate the part in my car)
Remove the IAC valve assembly and gasket, discard gasket.
CAUTION: On IAC valves that have been in service:
DO NOT push or pull on the IAC valve pintle. The force required to move the pintle may damage the threads on the worm drive.
DO NOT soak the IAC valve in any liquid cleaner or solvent, as damage may result.
Cleaning and inspection:
Both original and replacement IAC valves have a special factory applied thread locking compound applied to the screw threads. If the valve removed from the throttle body is being reinstalled, DO NOT try to remove any of the thread locking compound that may be remaining on the threads.
Clean the IAC valve gasket sealing surface, pintle valve seat and air passage:
Use carburetor cleaner to remove carbon deposits. DO NOT use a cleaner that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone. It is an extremely strong solvent, and not necessary for this type of deposit.
Shiny spots on the pintle or seat are normal, and do not indicate misalignment or a bent pintle shaft.
If the air passage has heavy deposits, remove the throttle body for complete cleaning.
NOTE: If installing a new IAC valve, be sure to replace it with an identical part. The IAC valve pintle shape and diameter are designed for the specific application.
INSTALLATION:
Install the IAC valve assembly with a new gasket, and tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb.ft), using a socket or box wrench on the valve hex.
@braeburn22
Thanks for the 'heads-up' of "ROCKAUTO"
Not only did they have the EASIEST website to negotiate (by far) , but the parts I ordered on 04/26/2019 arrived (in hand) 05/07/2019. 11 days from order to receipt In AUSTRALIA!
Super impressed.
(Note: Air Filter $4.56 compared to (local price of) $130.00 - freight about the same.)

I’m in Australia and I use Rockauto all the time. Good selection of parts they are cheaper than Ecklers or Zip, their delivery is cheaper and the stuff gets here much faster.
@GregMartin
Absolutely!!! (Brisbane, too.)
I wondered where the 'top' of your car was in your 'Avatar'.
I thought that the 'hoist' had been raised too far, until I worked out that the photo is upside down. (Funny.)
