"my" corvette specialty shop had to replace another c4 booster( that's about 10 on 5/6 cars) last week. they had to order 3 units in order to get the new design steel booster. plastic and steel units are mixed in inventory now (as I warned) do not take a plastic pos over the counter. that's my final word on the subject.
next to last word , lol . my understanding is that the part numbers are "almost" the same, new design has a number or letter added to the end . parts counter people know nothing about this. after 5 units i no longer want to think about this subject........
I just ordered a remanufactured metal cased '84 booster from Scoggin Dickey for $107.56 shipped. I guess I will find out soon if they are actually in stock.
84 is steel oem . 1 year only . 85 to 96 was plastic. only difference is slight re routing of vacc . hose . my new design custom build has been on car 2-3 months, but only about 100 miles . has best pedal pedal feel so far.....
can't do pics, but the 2 units look almost the same. my custom built unit was shipped with no paint. pos started rusting in 2 weeks on the car here in new orleans humidity. i insulated the booster from header heat and sprayed it down with pledge.. if the production steel units are painted semi gloss black the two boosters should look 90% the same. i had all 3 types on a table at the same time, but since i am a computer moron no pics.....sorry
