New to forum just bought a 87 c4 roller with the 4+3 trans the L98 was missing though
ant thoughts on what I should power it with

Has the wiring been butchered? Is the wiring and ECM all there? Changing to a different engine and FI system will require major changes to the electrical system. Are you up to that?

Budget will determine engine options. A carburetored SBC would get you running quicker. If you're are going to return to EFI; find engine with harness.

I would probably make it back into an L98 by getting the missing parts and have a whole reliable C4. It is really up to your budget!
