I put in my heater core last night 5.5 Hours. I was so excited I made decent time. I went to hook up the big tube under the hood and it fell off in my hands. Clean solder joint failure. I was very careful putting it in too. I went to the old one and yanked and pulled at it and pryed on it and could not get it to break. Faulty part I guess. Moral of the story CHECK YOUR PARTS.
Re: BE FORWARNED......I CANNOT BELIEVE IT (keekster)
the part is the same but in either 90 or 91 they changed the location of the heater core to make it easier to get to. The early c4s have the heater core up under the passenger dash, and the whole dash must be dissasembled to replace it. Some people have even said that the part number for the heater core is 0000001 and they built the rest of the car around it. Corvette Fever did an article about replacing the heater core and it was titled "Not something to try at home"
