It's been a while since I changed spark plugs with my EM longtubes. But, some I do from the top and a few from under the car. A spark plug socket using a closed-end wrench also helps.
I did last time I changed them. Works good. I had cut a spark plug socket down years ago, and for some reason the last time I did plugs I could figure out why it wouldnt fit.. Take the rubber and use the tool you made, not the wrong one.
I had actually made two, and couldnt find the other, as it had been so long..
So, I have an extra. PM your address and I will send it to ya..The summit one.
So, if you can get to a machine shop have one cut down.
Not necessarily for clearance issues with longtubes but a trick I used to use on occasion is to use a short piece of rubber vacuum line hose that fits snugly over the porcelain of the spark plug. Maybe try using the spark plug socket to break the plug loose, then remove the socket and push the vacuum line over the plug. You may be able to turn the plug out with the vacuum line. FYI, this is also a good trick for inserting the new plugs, it makes it really easy to get them to line up and start threading.
