Default Oil temp analog indication...

Hmmmm.
I have two Black Coupes. One a Z and the narrow one my '95 sleeper.
On the LT-1 I noticed my oil temp indication...on the gauge....is "0".
The digital readout is normal.
Someone said it has to be a $28.00 sender located just above the oil filter.
Question....Why would there be two sending units-one to the digital and one to the analog indicator? Replacing the sender sounds too easy (and cheap!)
Anybody had the same problem? Is the digital oil temp indication picked off somewhere else? Let me hear it. Thanks!!!! BC

Welcome to the fourm.

I have the same issue, however I do not have the digital backup. My oil temp gauge (analog) has always seem a little on the low side. Not that it has ever really bothered me, but if replacing the sender will make it more accurate, I'm in.

It is one physical sending unit, but it has 3 wires. One is a ground from the ECM, one is the signal to the ECM, the other is the signal directly to the analog gauge which uses some other ground to complete the circuit.

I had the exact same problem. Turns out the plastic on the sending unit that holds the harness in place had become brittle and had broken, allowing the wiring harness to move, causing some very erratic readings. A new sensor fixed me right up.

Yes it is right above the oil filter and yes I believe about $28 from Jeff Kopp sounds about right.

Thanks Guys....
I'm headed down to the Chevy dealer to get my part.
Good time to change the oil anyway.
I'd like to send some pix but can't get the hang of it. Do I need my own website?
