A couple years ago I put a new tailshaft bushing in my zf tailshaft and had the yoke ‘machined’ slightly to take out high points.
I think i was told to ‘use red loc-tite’ around the circumference of the new bushing where it contacts the new housing.
Havent been under there in awhile.
yesterday, i get under there and theres a mess of oil /grime accum around tailshaft and c-beAm.
Shine a flashlight and i see shiny liquid seeping between bushing and tailshaft housing (ie. Not where youd expect between seal and yoke). Theres no drop of oil hanging off bottom of theseal/yoke like youd expect.
my plan is to clean it up and smear some rtv silicone around the gap btwn the tailshaft bushing and housing?
does this sound like a sound plan?

what i would do is to get a new tailshaft seal and pop the old one out. then run a bead of silicone in the corner where the id of the seal meets the inside face of the seal. when you tap the new seal in, the silicone makes a seal between the tailshaft and the seal. you might wipe off the excess silicone or just leave be. let it set up before finishing.
haven't had one leak on me yet.
