I am going to replace my old heater core in my C4 1995, LT1. I have read here some catastrophic posts about this job.
I have bought service manual and it seems to be not easy, but possible. I have time (5 days), courage and I am determined. Do you have any useful hints or tips how to do the job smoothly as possible?
Take out the seat... I did mine when I was 17 and it took a few hours. 84s are probably less cluttered under there though. I left the top 2 bolts out of the cover... it sealed up just fine but those sucked to get to.
I did mine a couple years ago. It wasn't too bad, but time consuming. take pictures as you move along and bag the screws. Don't rush it, take your time. Here's a pic of the parts pile.
That is was the factory manual instructs you do, and since your face is going to be only inches away from the passenger airbag at various points, yeah, you really should disable the SRS.

Sure! On other hand, without that it could be another way for quick fix of the core and all my problems here on earth
The little beast is out of the cage. Thanks for the advices, all of them were useful. The job took around 8 hours. It wasnt so bad, however crucial was to progress slowly and make pictures and notices about all parts, wires and bolts. Without that I wouldnt be able to put it back together.

On the earlier cars where you can go in from underneath you probably want to remove the seat. When doing my 92 which is the same as the 1995 except for the airbag. I sat on the seat for a good part of the time I was doing mine.
As already said, it's not hard it's just monotonous. The FSM will get you through it. But it will run you all over the place. Here are the steps consolidated into one place, but since they are based on a 92 the Air Bag is not included.
Don't pass up this opportunity to replace the rotted foam around the vents and the rotted anti-noise foam tape on the A/C duct work. I did all this in my vette, along with plastic welding all the broken dash pad mounting tabs, and I couldn't be happier with the results. My car is buzz, squeak, and rattle free.
