Especially when cold but can happen anytime. It feels like the gate is blocked. Any ideas?
Also, took the car to the track last night for the first time and I was so nervous about being locked out of third I accidently threw into 5th. This caused the clucth to slip and burn, smelled bad for two days...........
Bad synchro, maybe?
I suspect the trans fluid was changed when the motor was rebuilt 25k miles ago (by previous owner) but I cant be sure. They did a a real good job on the rebuild so I would think they canged the trans fluid when they dropped in the 6 speed.
It came from a '91.

My '86 coupe has a '94 ZF six speed conversion and does this too... except mine does it in third and fifth. It doesn't do it often enough that I see a need to pull the tranny, though. Mine has new GM MT fluid as well, I don't think that is the problem. I think the clutch can be ruled out too, as it is definitely limited to a particular gear. :confused:
