...while fighting off a nasty cold. We'll see if I can get this done... I just can't sit here and look at it any longer; I have to put it in!! :yesnod:
Current time: 6:15pm
Est. time of completion: who the hell knows? PM?/AM?
Wish me luck in this greatest of undertakings...
Re: Off to Install Hurst Shifter... (Knight Ryder)
WHEW!!! Done!!!
Current time: 12:09AM
Only took me six hours. ...But I left the exhaust on (like a moron). And only had the spare tire jack and two jackstands, so not much room.
If you do it, drop the exhaust it will take ALOT less time.
Trickiest part was getting the shafts lined back up, but with the exhaust off, it would be much easier. That part alone took me 1hr 30min at least. That rubber boot under there can be tough to work with, too.
With the exhaust dropped, it probably would have only taken me 3 hours.
And get someone to help you line up the shafts again. It is much easier with someone in the car to move the lever back and forth.
And now... the results!! This thing is definitely SWEET!!! Shifts are crisp and with less throw, better feedback, and a nifty "click" sound. **** is closer to the console, but still looks pretty stock. All in all, a fantastic improvement. LOVE IT!! :yesnod: :yesnod: This was time well spent!!! To all who are considering the swap, DO IT!! Now... time to drive!!

 Congrats on finishing the job!!
The first one I did took around 5-6 hrs. also. I didn't drop the exhaust either. The second one was alot easier cause I dropped the exhaust and it made a HUGE difference in accessing the boot and reassembly. You are gonna love driving your car with the shorter shifter in. It's what the factory should have put in.:yesnod:

Thanks on the congrats!
First real day of driving with it in...and...
I LOVE IT!!! Man, I can bust out shifts in about half the time. :yesnod: With a nice, satisfying "click" to back them up! Sounds badazz! :yesnod: This thing feels so solid, it loves to be "thrown" into gear, and so smooooooooth... OK, I swear I don't work for Hurst, but I love this thing!!
Now my clutch foot is the noticeably slow part of the shifting process, gotta work on speeding that up...
Re: Off to Install Hurst Shifter... (Knight Ryder)
Can't wait to do this mod... I am just waiting until I am ready to replace the exhaust then I can do both at the same time!! Right now wheels and tires must come first.
