Re: Throttle Body Question? (CG77VETTE)
I don't know what the difference may be, but you are welcome to my old TB out of my 89. It is no good (shaft to body wear), but you could compare to your's.
The idle air paths are different, and as I recall the throttle linkage is different. The '86 is a straight pull and the '91 is progressive. I just put an '86 throttle body on a '91 engine in my '86 Z51.
The throttle linkage is different. Can be worked around with a new throttle cable (~$25). I will be doing this when I put my SR system on in the future.
If you know a good welder you could try to cut/weld the linkage between the two.
Matt
Thanks for all the replies. Basically, I was looking into buying a used TB from a '90 with 24k to keep as a spare if mine ever goes. I figured I couldn't go wrong for $50. If I ever need one I will probably buy a brand new one.
