I was taking off the old front Y-pipe to my 91, and I must have sprayed liquid wrench and other rusty bolt remover products on those bolts a dozen times in the past day and a half. So I go to take the first bolt out of the Y-pipe and SNAP! I broke the bolt! :mad So now im screwed! What am I gonna do? Buy headers when I get the money, or take it to an exhaust shop? If I get headers, it will be coming with the Y-pipe so I guess I could sell the one I have now. I guess headers is my only option. This really realy SUCKS! If anyone has been down this road, let me know what you did, im in a stand still. :cry
Re: Installing front Y-pipe and... SNAP! (Red91Vette)
That's it, remove all 6 Y-pipe flange bolts to see what's up; then remove tghe header(s) as necessary.
Take it to a machine shop and have any broken Y flange bolts replaced.
Get a set of stock GM header gaskets and bolt her back up.
NOTE:
Don't remove the header heat shields to remove the headers.
On the right side remove the access panel from the inner fender well to access the AIR tube hose clamp (holds it to the header Y flange).
