I recently picked up an 87 B2K with low miles. Unfortunately the lower bushings in the shocks were rotted away and the car clanks when driving it on just about any surface. I am switching to an 88 and newer style suspension and have new Bilstein shocks already. My question is can I use the later style shocks on the car until I can get the later style suspension parts prepped and installed?
The fronts have the same physical appearance and mounting type top and bottom. The only difference I can see is a slight difference in the body length and a slight difference in length overall. My concern was me making a fundamental Corvette rookie mistake and ruining a new set of shocks.
I also have a 1987 C4.. let me know how it works out.. I would also like to convert to the 88-96 style. Are you changing the spindles in the front?? and what all is necessary to convert the rears?? thanks, gary

Every single piece in the suspension is getting changed to the 88 and up style components.

Rear suspension is the same, everything should swap over.
It was the front suspension that was redesigned in 88, slightly different geometry. Scrub radius changed. In general, GM went with softer springs and larger sway bars to improve the 84-87 ride without compromise of handling.
