Default 89 Rear tie rod ends

While rebuilding the rear suspension on my 89, I took off the tie rod assembly and wanted to change the rod ends. I have already gone thru 2 different assemblies and each time I tried to remove the ends it screwed up the threads. Do anybody know why this happens or what procedure is to be used to remove them?

I separated mine with a pickle fork. Banging on it never worked for me. Mabey with cast iron.
Picle fork may tear the boot but a new rod end it would not matter. Count the threads or measure.

Are you talking about screwing up the threads on the TIE ROD? While trying to screw the end off of the rod?

Use heat. Heat works. Heat it.

I have the whole unit out of the car. the problem is trying to get the old rod ends out. It seams like after they were installed they were crimped on

I did try and heat it. It just screwed up the threads on the shaft it was threaded into

I won't speak to the oem's as I replaced them with the Banski unit. Worth checking out especially if you're having problems with what came on the car. My opinion.
