Default Need Some Advice With Fixing Trouble Codes and General Problems

Hello, i recently bought myself a 95' C4 Vin-P Vette. I have a few problems:

1. The engine will not always start with the drivers' side door closed. i have to make sure the "door ajar" light is on to be able to start and idle.
2. I can hear it backfiring but very faintly when i rev the engine a bit, i know that there is something wrong because it is hesitant to rev up when i put my foot down. When i drive the car it is hesitant to get power down. The power is extremely un-smooth and it feels like the engine is almost i flood it and the engine has to take a few seconds to "work through" the fuel.
3. I used the paper clip method to read some codes off the dash display. Here is what i found:
Module 1: H53
Module 4: H55
Module 9: ---
I did some research and H53 seems to be a "Pass-key – key detection circuit open or shorted to battery"
Code H55 seems to be a "Fuel Lean Monitor" fault

I would greatly appreciate some advice on this.
Here is the site i used for referencing my error codes: https://tech.corvettecentral.com/201...trouble-codes/

I would get:
Factory Service Manuals contains information and diagnostic charts
Diagnostic starter set: fuel pressure gauge, spark tester, noid light, test light, and DVOM.
That should get you started.

I'd get a scanner instead of the code reader which is a glorified paper clip. That should tell you what the ECM really sees instead of what it guesses the problem is.

Assuming they still do it, go to AutoZone. When they read codes (using wireless scanners), it prints out a report showing the fault(s) and all potential causes. The later should help you start eliminating possibilities in order to track down the culprit.

Buying a FSM is always a good option for a Corvette owner. For that matter...any car you plan on keeping for a longer period of time.

I don't know how it works. They have software that isn't wireless, at least not here. It is by Innova and is only for OBD 2.the socket will fit but will it be able to scan OBD 1?

Oh yeah...96 was the swap to ODB2...not 95. So...I don't know if AutoZone can read it. That said, he already has the codes and I'm pretty sure there are "error code" websites that provide the same "suggestions for repair" that I'm talking about. Unless they've gone to pay sites?

Yes, I figured out what the codes were saying by using this website: https://tech.corvettecentral.com/201...trouble-codes/

I just have no idea why the door being closed would stop the car from starting, it boggles my mind.

Well....I obviously had my head up the proverbial dark place. I looked at this thread ENTIRELY too fast the first time. I see you posted your link in the OP. And, that you said this door issue right off the bat. I skipped past the pass-key issue..and only saw the lean issue. I'm sure I figured the door problem would be easy.

That said, that sounds back-asswards. If your later year is "smart enough" to avoid starting with the door OPEN, maybe something in the door switch is causing it to act somewhat the opposite? Or....more likely the security module is "blown". (Seems like there's a VATS security module behind my passenger dash panel...but it's an 89. Hopefully someone will tell you where it is on your 95.)
