Went to the track Friday night, and ran a 12.92 @ 108.4. My car is a 96 CE, 11K miles, absolutely stock (other than aftermarket plug wires). Factory air cleaner, gears, everything. I'm just amazed that this car is so freaking fast. 60 foot was a lousy 1.92, after launching at 3000 rpm on the factory run flats. This has got to be the fastest stock car I've ever owned!

Re: My LT4 Rocks! (fullboogie)
What track?
My stock MPH was very close to yours but your 1/4 mile times are lot better. Your 60' times are outstanding on GSC/EMT. The best I did was 2.2 sec. But I stink off the line; bog or spin on the EMTs. I have not had a chance to run it on the 1/4 mile after the heads were ported. I am hoping to pick up .2 sec and 2 mph.
I ran at Houston Raceway Park on Friday. The track was excellent. During the day, there was a regional points meet, so there was lots of fresh rubber on the starting line. Up to now, I've only been able to run low 13's, same mph as Friday. The 12.92 was solely a function of a better 60'. Previously, my sixty foots were in the 2.0 to 2.1 range. Friday I was able to get that down to low 1.90's due to the good starting line.
Like they say, the whole race is determined in the first 60 feet. Can't wait to get 4.10's and slicks!

Congrats!
Sounds alot like my first time at the track. First time out all stock it went a 12.92 @ 108.95 with a 1.92 short time. Added drag radials and with the stock gears went a 12.58 @ 110 with a 1.82 short time. Then added 4.10 gears whic didn't do much for the best ET but it did help bring the average ET down to about a 12.7. Added the hot cam and then went a 12.33 @ 112.61 with a 1.799 short time.
Excellent times , fullboogie, its about time we finally get some good weather down here! Have you dynoed your car ? I just completed my exhaust system and hope to dyno it soon. :seeya
LT4 times fall victim to their tires (like everyone else). What do some of you guys run for good street/strip tires? For as often as I go to the track, its not worht buying drags yet. But I don't drive her in the rain either. My 275 Potenza's suck off the line. What about 315 street tires?

"lousy 1.92" Haha, that's far from lousy on stock street tires.
all4c4lt4, the best way to do it is buy some extra wheels, find something cheap , like stock sawblades (9.5) and mount some drag radials on them. When you want to go to the track , just put them on the back. I have them on my car all the time but I only drive it weekends/good weather etc, about 7+K per year. They are Nitto Drag Radials and are really pretty good tires. I have been in the rain once with them and they were not the best but not unacceptable either, just have to slow down. :seeya

Not dynoed yet. Don't need to, if you've been to the track. There are mathematical formulas you can use for horsepower at the engine and rear wheels. These formulas are dead-on, because they're derivative of actual performance. Not an approximation, as in a chassis dyno.
Having plugged in total vehicle weight (as measured on a digital scale at the track), MPH in the quarter, gear ratio, tire circumference, etc., it says my engine is making 358 HP at the flywheel. Apparently the rumors are true about LT4's making more than the advertised 330HP from the factory. Geez, I wonder what's going to happen when I start modifying this monster?!

Re: My LT4 Rocks! (fullboogie)
Great 60 times! Gotta ask. What was the temperature when you ran.
I can vary 2 tenths. 11.88 at 96 degrees, 11.68 at 54 degrees. Should be lower 'cause my auto trans is shifting at 5000 rpm, should shift at 5900 rpm. next spring.
I would go with 315 BFG drag radials. Hook better than my 10" Hoosiers on 15" rims. Go get 'em
No doubt, the weather played a part. It was 76 degress on that run, 93% humidity (nice dry day in Houston), and 29.45 bar. pressure. Not awesome, but not bad either. However, when I bought the car 2 months ago and ran it in 90+ degree heat, it still ran 13.1's at 108 and 109!
The biggest factor, as stated above, was track conditions. Getting the run flats to hook a 1.92 sixty foot is pretty good. Previous best was around 2.1 or 2.07.
