Hello, it looks like I should be able to adjust this spring, but I can't seem to turn it and don't want to break it. The spring tension is to much, feels like it will break the handle or cable. Thanks Mike
That's definitely not your problem! That spring is what causes your hood to pop up a little bit when you pull the hood release lever. If that spring tension is reduced, you'd probably need three people in order to open your hood! One at the release lever, and one on each side of your hood to lift the hood while the latch is being pulled.
It's more likely you need to adjust the stop that's shown right next to the spring. The rubber end seems to be distorted, which indicates there's too much pressure on it. Loosen the lock nut at the base of that stop, and turn the stop CW a few turns.
You should not need to slam your hood closed. You should be able to set the hood down on the latches, then push down gently on each corner of the hood to snap the latches closed.

No, the stops are adjusted to 26mm according to the FSM. The hood doesn't open with gas struts, it's a 95'. The hood pops open with too much force and I have to pull the hood release pretty hard, it closes real easy too, according to the FSM 6-12 inches from the roof line is acceptable, mine closes 4 inches from the closed position.

I think that you need to grease the hood latches. Not the male/female part, so much, but the guillotine of the latch itself where it slides laterally to release the pin. My hood released "hard" like you're describing at one time...now I keep it greased and I can pop the hood w/a pinky....easily.
