Replace ECU for Code 51?
Bought a ‘85 C4 that has been sitting a LONG while. Put a new fuel pump, filter, cap, rotor, plugs, wires... All the normal get a car running things. Got the car running (Still runs rough). Getting the code 51 EPROM failure. I see a lot on here Mostly talking about checking data and programing all things more advanced then I want to deal with at the moment. So I’m thinking replace it. On eBay a remaned ecu runs just under $100. Is it just that simple?
Stock car not worried about upgrades. Just want it run right.

The entire diagnosis from the service manual is as follows:
"CHECK THAT All PINS ARE FULLY INSERTED IN THE SOCKET AND THAT MEM-CAL IS PROPERLY LATCHED.
IF OK. REPl.ACE MEM/CAL. CLEAR MEMORY, AND RECHECK. IF CODE 51 REAPPEARS, REPLACE ECM."
