Ok im stumped, how are any of you running a double roller? It leaves no room for the crank reluctor!
I tried the L-98 TPI single roller everyone said would work but only have 0.042 clearance tooth to tooth:
I also have a Cloyes single roller designed for the LT-1 and the tooth clearance is the same!
I'd hate to reuse the OEM set (56k miles) but I'm at a loss, please help! I need to get this motor back in ASAP! I don't even know what other options there are?
I don't know all the differences, but the 1995+ LT engines have a different timing chain set than earlier versions. I believe the stock chain on these is a true roller. However, the typical upgrade is the GMPP 12370835 Extreme Duty set. If I were you, I'd try that.

Im a happy extreme duty user w/ heavy valve spring pressures.
cloyes makes a version of it that has 4 deg cam retard, 4 deg advance and neutral keyways.
if you do this - make sure you use the included water pump drive gear.
some of the camaro guys didnt do this and the (harder) stock water pump drive gear chewed up the softer drive teeth on the extreme duty timing gear. It sent metal shavings thru their lt1 engines ruining them.
as long as you use that included gear on your water pump drive shaft. you wont have any problem

Yes Sir ! Per a quote from Summit's website:
This fits OptiSpark II applications only. Early LT1s with the OptiSpark 1 can be updated to the new, second design. This will require new ignition, new front cover, and cam change to second design cam, the nose is different.
Of course this is the Cloyes, what I bought for my 96.
I just used that Cloyes one listed above on a 96 LT4 car and it fit fine with the reluctor ring and much beefier than the stock one. I use a standard double roller on my LT4 "BUT" I run an electric pump, and no reluctor ring with the Torqhead setup. There is a GM single roller with out waterpump drive setup I ran for a few years with the reluctor ring with no issues. You could also have the crank sensor tuned out since it's only for misfire detection, but be aware the thickness difference with the crank gear without the reluctor ring. I used a spacer so the balancer and belt alignment was correct.
I have that one here too but it has the exact same gear tooth to tooth clearance as the TPI single roller.
The stock set is a single roller as well but is a much smaller pitch, the same as a double roller uses. So you gain a TON of tooth to tooth clearance.
If you look at the pic I posted, both the TPI single roller and Cloyes single roller have extremely tight clearance. Since im deleting the mechanical water pump, I was told the TPI set was fine and it's $200 cheaper!
After looking over all 3 Timing sets with the machine shop. We decided the L-98 TPI single roller was the best idea. We couldn't find any issues that would cause fitment problems with the timing cover or opti.
