I've read a lot of archived threads about pads...everyone has their favorite... I plan to replace my rotors with Stillen's (drilled)...I race my vette in the Fl. Corvette Challenge but I do not autocross...my car is a daily driver and I can't stand a lot of squeeling...any pads out there that will perform well but not get eaten up by drilled rotors ?...thanks all...
Corky, they stop real good. The only thing wrong with them is that they are so tough, they will eventually wearteh rotors out more so than any other pad out there.
I have about 35,000 miles on them so far with no problems at all.
I had a panic stop once at about 90 mph, luckily the two cars behind me both had the same pads, we all stopped nice and straight while everyone else had to pull onto the shoulder to avoid hitting us.
I have a few pages from NAPA that gives all the specs, but I don't remember where I put them. As soon as I find them, I will scan and post them.

Re: Brake pads...again... (Mr Mojo)
Installed the NAPA ceramix last year and like them. But I don't race. No dust, very good pedal feel, smooth, and no noise.
I recently read an article about preventing brake squeal. Before installation, it recommended sanding the rotors with an orbital sander and 100 grit paper. Then clean with soap and water, and finally brake clean. Sand smooth and lubricate parts of the caliper that touch the pad backing plate. Then a careful break in process.

NAPA Ceramix are not cheap. I don't remember for sure, but I think the rears were $70 and the fronts $90. A forum member is a NAPA dealer and shipped them to me much cheaper than the local NAPA dealer. I don't recall who, sorry.

Golfboy1.... I have the exact rotors that you are going to put on. I also have the Napa Ceramix pads and I love them. Even though I don't race my Vette, I feel that they are a great combo...
CAUTION:They work very well but must be hot to get full effect.
Running them on my '74 Corvette, love em!
I've run the street PF pads on cars and trucks in the past, they are also teriffic...always quiet, and super stopping power.

First, thanks to all for the responses...I just priced the NAPA Ceramix today..front =$115.29 and rear = $73.99....I looked at the PFZ's but 9 out of 10 folks say they do squeek and are not all that great for regular daily driving which is 95% of the time for me...I don't autocross at all...my mechanic isn't that crazy about the Ceramix cause the sets he installed all came back for loud squeeking...go figure...anyway thanks again.... :D

Re: Brake pads...again... (golfboy1)
From research and experience, squeeks are caused by improper installation. The rotors have to be clean. All metal to metal contact points must be smooth and high temp silicone grease. My Ceramix are dead quiet and extremely smooth. They were installed on the OEM rotors with 30,000 miles. I only sanded them with 100 grit paper.
You might check out EBC Greenstuff pads. They have a kevlar base and are pretty gentle on rotors (although a 140-50 slowdown, warped a set enough to need machining). No squeal, moderate dusting, I think they were about $80 from Tire Rack. I've got ~20K miles on a set and it looks like there's another 10K left on them. Rears only lasted about 12K miles so I went to NAPA Lifetime pads.
Save your money on those drilled rotors...I've seen more cracked drilled rotors than I can shake a stick at! Sure they look cool...but if you ever go to a track during the summer...
John Row...I've been thinking about EBC's as well...tried to IM you but it's not working...tell me, what would cause the rear pads to wear out so much before the front ?...generally it's the exact opposite...thanks...

How long have you owned the car? How many miles? Maybe the previous owner did the fronts only at one time.
In browsing archives, appearently rear brake wear is a pretty common thing. I think it has to do with the e-brake using the same calipers. Could be the e-brake doesn't release completely. Another cause is that the ASR will apply brakes to the rear wheels to control spins.
My inside pads (against the caliper) wore about twice as fast as the outer pads. I could have swapped pads around to just about double the life if I had been paying attention.
