I noticed I have a leak that is getting worse. I seems to be coming from the TC cover, behind the harmonic balancer. I am a new corvette owner so this is my first “issue “. I can’t tell if my HB has worked it’s way into the TC cover and possibly worn a hole. I tried finding a picture of a healthy setup so I could compare, but no luck. What has started as a tiny oil drip has now turned into a worse mixture leak. Any help would be appreciated!
Fill up the profile so we know what you are working on and what your location is in case someone has tools or skills and is nearby. Try not to use abbreviations that can make others guess what they mean (TC Cover, HB, etc). This helps seaching functions a bit when we search and might run into your thread and contribute.
It’s a 1986 L98. The leak seems to be coming from behind the timing chain cover near the harmonic balancer. Not sure if the outer ring of the balancer came loose and has worn a hole in the timing chain cover.

That is not a common occurrence. Most likely it is the cover seal or cover gasket. Coolant probably the water pump or hose connection.

It doesn’t seem to be coming from the water pump? I brought it to my mechanic who unfortunately doesn’t have much experience with vettes. He thought it might be the timing chain cover was loose or cracked, but it was just a guess. He would have to take it apart to see.
