dash went black
hi all my 87 dash cluster went black has new fuses and still black are there lights behind the cluster I can read the cluster if there is a light on it thanks in advance for any hints or help

When a dash goes black very suddenly it is frequently a bad ground causing it. The man who knows a lot about these dashboards is Bryan at BATEE.COM. Bryan rebuilds the dashboards and has several videos posted about digital dash issues online.
On my 1988 C4 the dash would turn dark while driving at times and after learning where to "tap" the dashboard I was able to get it to come back temporarily. I got BATEE.COM on line and he sold me the parts to fix my own dashboard. He also sells new bulbs that don't make as much heat as the original bulbs did. I was shocked when I saw the heat damage to the PC boards so I switched to the lower heat bulbs. Batee.com is a real treasure for we the owners of the digital dashboards. Let support him as he supports our Corvette Hobby and provides a needed service to our community!
Go to BATEE.com and look him up, there is a lot of information available at his website. If that is not enough either send him your dash or you can rebuild it yourself if you are good at soldering wires and components. Bryan is fast, affordable and his service is awesome!

+1 on Batee! When I started having problems with the instrument cluster in my 86, found it was the ground between the boards. I sent it to Bryan and he replaced the connector between the boards and the bulbs to reduce heat. As stated he's affordable, does great work and it was back in no time. Been working fine ever since.
