84-85 Electric Door Lock Switch Upgrade
I recently purchased an 85 and the door lock switches would not work.
I found that Corvette Central offered an upgrade for these switches so I decided to give it a try.
They sell it under part # 484532L & 484532R. $47.95 per side.
(disclaimer time)......this is not an endorsement for Corvette Central. I purchased this product and it worked well for me so I wanted to share. :) :) :)
The kit replaces the 84-85 two button switch with the 86-89 rocker type switch. This is the same switch as the power window switch. Included in the kit are 86-89 style trim plates, a new wiring harness for the switch, and the switch and bezel.
The installation is very easy.
Simply remove your door panel, take off the old trim plate, attach the new switch to the new trim plate, attach this assembly to the door panel and put your door panel back on. The most time consuming part is rewiring the new harness.
The old harness has 3 wires and the new harness has 5. The colors do not match and there are no directions included to allow for this.
New orange goes to old orange.
New gray and pink go together and then to old blue.
New tan and purple go together and then to old black.
So for now, if you are having problems with your power door lock and you think it's the switch give this upgrade a try.
