Got Keyless Entry installed but........
On my '96, the factory alarm will only arm if you lock the doors before closing. If you close the doors before locking, the alarm won't arm (it assumes a person is inside the car). You might try closing the doors, *then* hitting lock on your remote...that might prevent arming the alarm.
Well, actually the PKE/alarm operation is slightly more complicated than what I described, but that's the general idea.

As stated above, if you manually lock the doors before arming your aftermarket alarm, the factory alarm is engaged and will go off when you disarm the aftermarket alarm. I've studied the wiring diagrams, and have found which wire to cut going to the CCM to disable the factory alarm. Actually, it's the wire that tells the CCM to enable the factory alarm when the doors are manually locked.
Problem is, I can't get to the wire. I've taken out the radio to get to the CCM, but there's some metal bracing in the way. I can SEE the wire I want to cut, and I could probably reach it with some snips, but I won't be able to reconnect it if I need to.
I've had many discussions with others on the Forum about this, and it appears that the only way to fix this problem is to somehow keep the CCM from enabling the factory alarm. And our conclusion is that this particular circuit must be disabled. If you look in your service manual and read all the wiring diagrams, there will be a circuit that is labeled something like "enable UTD", which stands for Universal Theft Deterrent. That's the one that has to be cut.
Let's keep everyone posted if someone is able to fix this.
Thanks for the info
