Default Plenum Question.

I want to port and polish the upper plenum and have a few question.
Can it be removed without removing the bottom bolts in the runners?

I plan to open the ports to the gaskets, remove the humps and clean and smooth the inside as much as possible. Will there be anything gained power-wise from this or is this only good with new base etc?

Two friends one w/vette one w/ GTA both said dont waste money on runners both had Edelbrock and were unimpressed. Do you agree?

Yes, you can pull the plenum without pulling the runners.

With an otherwise stock motor you likely won't feel any difference, though it's a good start in getting to know your TPI and preparation for future mods.

While the plenum is off you might want to do the TB coolant bypass mod; this will not only keep the intake air cooler but also make future intake mods a lot easier. Also you might want to relocate the MAT sensor from under the rear of the plenum into the air filter lid. Installing an AFPR would be a nice adder if you plan on more mods.

Actually the runners are the biggest air flow restrictors. There are several common approaches to improving intake air flow:
-super ram=new intake base, runners and plenum
-mini ram=new intake base, runners and plenum
-upgraded TPI=BM base, LT runners, ported plenum
-siamese base with stock runners and ported plenum
If interested, do a search on any of these topics to get a better idea of what their about.
