Was driving the car, everything working great, and parked it for a couple weeks. When trying to restart the car, it wouldn't start and had no electrical power at all. Replaced the battery, still nothing. After closer inspection, found that two of the wires , a large one and a smaller one, connected together by an eyelet, going to the junction box behind the battery were grounded. We separated the wires from the eyelet and found that only the smaller one, with fusible link #16 was grounded. Both fusible links tested good. With both of the wires disconnected we still have power to both the large and the small red wires going to the alternator, but no power to any of the wires going to the starter. All of the fuses on the side of the passenger side dash tested good. Does anyone have an idea where Fusible link # 16 goes, and how to fix this problem? ANY help will be much appreciated.

Reason: wrong year, It's a 1989
..... Check/clean the connections at the stud terminal between the battery and firewall … then check/clean the grounds at the rear of the engine block above the oil filter …..
OK so the two wires that were originally connected together by an eyelet, coming off of the main junction box, that are grounded , go directly into the firewall underneath the master cylinder on the bottom of the two plugs on the firewall.
After making sure that those two wires are touching nothing on the outside of the firewall I moved to the inside of the firewall underneath the driver side and tested the two red wires as they came through the firewall and they are still grounded.
does anyone know where the two red wires go to underneath the driver side of the dash on the inside ?
Just me but when I see a red wire, I am thinking power. not ground.
If a red wire measures like a ground, there is probably a broken wire, a bad connector, or a turned-off switch between that red wire and the battery power. The resistance thru the motor or other load will make it seem like the red wire is connected to ground, which will NOT be true. This might also be caused by a blown out fuse that disconnects the red wire from the battery power.
