I bought my 1984 not running with knowledge that the former owner started having transmission issues and just parked the car because of it. After getting the car running again it came time to see if it would move under its own power; absolutely nothing happens when shifting into gear. I'm pretty sure its not the shift linkage because the car will go in and out of park but it seems odd that the car doesn't do anything when put in any gear, not even idle up or down. Before I go out and replace the entire TC and trans, is there anything other than that (electrical maybe) that could cause it to behave like this?
Note, the previous owner described the issue as shifting up through the gears but never back down.

First thing is to check if there is fluid. If there is, then gauging up will tell you if the pump is working.
