Swapped the fluid in my trans today. I've read the horror stories on the fill plug getting stuck, but I sprayed it the night before when some PB Blaster and it came out very easily. Now when it came to filling it back up, I was going to do what most others do and run a tube into the engine bay. However, I found this 10 dollar pump at Home Depot and figured I'd give it a try. Best 10 bucks I ever spent.
The Amsoil synchromesh is a 5w30 oil and has all the additives needed for yellow metals in transmissions. Many here have used it many times with excellent results. I understand that gear oils and motor oils have different viscosity scales, so the 5w30 transmission oil is not the same viscosity as a 5w30 motor oil.
I have a 3-4 foot section of flexible tube that I run down between the engine and firewall on the passenger side, and into the transmission fill hole. Insert a funnel into the top end and start pouring. WAY easier and cleaner than using a pump. I only need a pump for the differential service because it has no drain plug, so the old stuff has to be sucked out.

I had zero cleanup with the pump. Worked very well.
more newbs reading outdated info on the internet when better alternatives have come out but the original outdated source hasnt been updated 🙄(recommending bmw motor oil)
If I read this right it was a question on filling, and many options have been offered. I was the one who said just be sure what you use has the proper additives.
As dizwiz24 stated new owners come here all the time, why not just give the the answers they seek and make them feel welcome.....
I have read of many people using the hose dropped down the firewall with a funnel method and was simply showing another option which I found very easy. You could fill your ZF with water for all I care, I'll stick with a some sort of syncromesh specific fluid personally, in this case I went with Amsoil brand. No fluid debate here.

That's what I thought too.
Because....ChumpVette.
What I wonder, is if Chumpy didn't like the thread content...why didn't he just close the window?? Because.....ChumpVette.
The OP was talking about filling. Not what to fill with.
He could be filling with an eye dropper, suction gun, hand pump, whatever.
I have no grudge at all. I just comment on douche-bag, totally unhelpful comments. Like almost all of yours.
Still can't take the opinion that a C4 is a bad car to go endurance racing with. Even though others chimed in wtih a lot of the same experiences. What's in that water in Utah? Might be best if I skip it when I'm out there in a couple of weeks.
