Default under hood lights

I have a '88 35th anniversary model and have a problem with the under hood lights. The drivers side light will come on even tho the plug
is disconnected. Have to leave the bulb out. The other side works fine. Anybody have an idea as to what the problem could be?

No way that could happen if you unplugged the right connector.

Attached is the wiring diagram for your use. Unless someone has changed the wiring the light should not come on if the proper connector is unplugged.

There are also prewired under hood kit that adds a on-off switch to the circuit. If it's off, doesn't matter what it's doing, it won't come on.

I think the wire is bare at some area and is in contact with a live wire. Going to look for it this winter (which is now, where i live).

And just where do you do you think it is connecting to a positive and a ground wire in the hood? Double check what you disconnected.

I don't have anything disconnected. Just unplugged the connector, and the left light has power. Where is it coming from?

That's double-talk. If you unplugged the connector, you disconnected it.

If you think it's a problem with bare wires touching, your Corvette is about to go up in smoke! You'd need to have bare wires touching in two different spots if you disconnected the correct connector. There's about a 0.003% chance of that! You have disconnected/unplugged the wrong connector. Are you okay?

I see that now. My '85 only had one connector. Thanks for the reply.

If its going to go up in smoke, you would think it would have by now. It seems there is a connector for each side. I guess we didn't know that. Why do you
want to know if i'm ok?

Thanks for solving my not so drastic problem. There are 2 connectors for those lights. The driver side is located way on the bottom and you can't see it
unless you pull on some wires. I'll have to straighten that mess out. I think the connector was just pushed in but not latched and the light would come on
when i was chasing the wires?
Anyway, thanks again.
