Motorvation Performance Chip Opinions?
Corvette Mods site says this (in part) about it:
They offer a full range of DST programming for the air/fuel ratio, ignition advance, and transmission.
Not sure what "DST" programming" is. The trans on an '87 is not computer controlled in any way (other than converter lock up)...so claiming "DST programming....for the transmission" is utter bull ****. The rest likely is too.
BUT...you tell us! What did it dyno before? What does it dyno now? Haven't been to the dyno? O.K...what did it run at the drag track before? What does it run now? I had a good friend who put a "performance chip" in his '84 'Vette and went slower at the drag track. So...
They fit into the other speed parts like: the "Smooth tube" for the MAF to the intake, it is supposed to flow more air.... not.
My all time favorite is the little wedge that is supposed to make the air flow faster into the throttle body.
Then we have folks who buy bigger injectors figuring Bigger is Better. That may work in some places but not on a stock L98 Corvette...
I use a GTECH Pro to verify any changes I make to my Corvette, I measure before and after and can tell if there was any difference and where it was on my power-band. Trust but Verify...
Best regards,
Chris
Likely changes could include reduced fan on/off temps and a bit of additional spark advance. I would assume any performance gains are negligible, but would like to see the actual data before passing judgement.
