Topping off automatic ATF (non Vette)
When filling an automatic that has two readings on the dipstick - cold and hot - after filling the tranny is it best to read the dipstick with engine running or off?

thats tricky...
most autos require the engine to be running and in neutral.
to be honest, your best guess is the best bet. if you feel the tranny is 2 quarts down, for example, put in one and check... thats how I always did it...
