I've been looking for a rattle in the convertible top since I had a new headliner installed in the convertible hardtop early this summer. I didn't have a second set of hands at the time to remove the hardtop when hunting for the rattle. The rattle was intermittent and I tried adjusting the top multiple times. Today we removed the top and found a vice grip on the cable. When I took it to the upholstery shop to have the headliner replaced they told me they had a hard time removing the top so they replaced the headliner with the top on the car. Obviously they had no clue on removing the hard top.

At least the rattle has been eliminated!
i just had new top, with glass rear window conversion, put on my 1993.
the guy did a great job on the top and conversion/ conversion kit install.
he flipped my headliner upside down so the faded side couldnt be seen anymore.
he did a crappy job on the top weatherstripping, not scraping glue out. Even though i told him he would need to.
i had to re do the weatherstrip install. Pissed i even had him try
Thanks for the replies. It was missing a bolt which I replaced yesterday but I believe it was the vice grips banging as I could see a mark where it was hitting both the brace on the convertible top and the fiberglass panel.
